engadget.com — Nokia is showing off their new S60 Touch Interface at the Symbian Smartphone Show today. Unlike their last attempt, this effort was demonstrated on a more Nokia-like concept device. The touch-interface supports haptic feedback and accepts both finger and stylus inputs depending upon the display technology used.

I have one in my pocket for daily use and S60 3.0 is the best mobile phone OS I've ever used (and I've used a lot). Guess it all depends on what you're used to, what you're expecting and how you like to organize your brain. It may be a little slow at times, but it manages to somehow put the greatest breadth of functionality at your fingertips with the fewest keystrokes. It's an OS that's truly optimized for its platform.

I think she was silencing the phone and turning it over so her boyfriend didn't see that it was her husband calling.

The stylus is not exactly optional. It's necessary for certain functions. For example, the reeeealy small keyboard.
