campaignforrealbeauty.com— This is a video from dove's campaign for real beauty where you see a girl get a heavy makeup and then "fixed" in photoshop before she's beauty enough to fit the ad.

I appreciate what they're trying to say, with this video. And that girls shouldn't kill themselves to be crazy thin. Here's my gripe, though... If we're not using the models with the best shape and most perfect faces to sell our products, then what's the point in having models? Your product looks better, and sells more units, if you have a better looking ad. I know what real beauty is, but I also know what is aesthetically better for moving product. It's their business to sell, so they use the best colours, best typeface, and yes... most perceived beauty. A lot of the people complain about the women on the covers of men's magazine's and the way they look, but take a look over at the women's magazines... The women are the same. This stuff sells easier to women, too. It's not advertising's job to make you feel better about being fat.
It's much worse for a girl to be ugly than for a guy to be bad at sports -- guys who are bad at sports can still redeem themselves in the eyes of the opposite sex in others ways .... unattractive girls have a harder time of it.
Well. Of course this campaign is not wrong - but there's a catch: People who appreciate this idea might also believe in a certain fact: That human beings are not normally as "beautiful" (quotation marks because of the problem of taste etc. in this matter) as they are at the end of that movie on the ad poster. But I believe that evolution is still going on and will (soon actually) enable humans to be as beautiful as that without makeup etc. Please do not burn the idea too deeply into your head, that humans "can not" naturally be as beautiful as that.
The woman looked much better on the billboard than she did originally (duh). Funny though, there are lots of women who look that good naturally who they could have used.

Stupid guess, probably made by a stupid person?Although beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, there are some universal standards of beauty.

Bloody amazing! I always wanted to see how they did it. I have to keep reminding myself more often that everything I see is fake.
