cbc.ca — Christopher Hitchens, a Washington-based journalist known for his support of the Iraq War and the U.S. war on terror, has subjected himself to waterboarding. The experiment was done in answer to critics who challenged him to try it after he defended U.S. treatment of Muslim prisoners.

Since when did they do that to people for hours? If they did it to them for hours, they would drown. The whole point is they are forcing the persons face underwater, and using the towels to keep their air way clear, but still wet. Most of the CIA agents it was tested on couldnt last more than a minute, and keep in mind, they KNEW they wouldnt be killed in the process. Imagine if some crazy militant did that to you. You would have no idea if they were actually going to drown you, or what. There is no way in hell someone could last for hours.

Whoever doesn't think simulated drowning is torture is f**king insane.I mean who the hell hasn't had water go up their nose while swimming/diving? That s**t is torture for just a split second of water going up there, let alone minutes.

Boy, you're all kinds of dumb, ain't ya?It's excrement like you that would be crying for mommy within seconds of the first spoonful of water poured down your dumb f**k airways.

Tell me about the short comings of Evolution then, my PhD work was in Systematics and Evoultionary Ecology."I have PhD in physics which qualifies "It qualifies you for exactly nothing. It carries the responsibility for presenting clear, substantiated arguments and to never abuse your degree by pretending it is some sort of rank. And why does a PhD in physics not know that a theory can be and often is a meta-concept that connects many, individual testable hypothesis' into a coherent whole that is robust and parisimonious?btw, your thesis work was published where? just curious.

Dude, that guy's a badass. He subjected himself to something awful to get a non-partisan opinion on how bad it was. Major props to the guy for bravery, even if he only did it for 10 seconds.
