scifi.com — TMNT, the upcoming animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, will dispense with the franchise's previous villain, director Kevin Munroe told SCI FI Wire. Series creator Peter Laird suggested the change. "Peter wanted to create new villains, and we tried to figure out what to come up with," Munroe said in an interview. "We dumped Shredder"

"We want it to be fun, not too crazy, but believable." Right, going to a movie about Mutant Turtles that turn into Ninjas, ya I can believe that. But Shredder, no way is that believable. Can 'em!

Actually I find the new series to have very strong writting, deeper charcters, fantastic animation, excellent voice acting, and a really good dark tone that really captures the feel of the original Mirage comic books. Also, I like the fact that they put more emphasis on action and writting than in humor, and have succed in making the villians like Shredder, Baxter, and Bishop, more menacing. Also, it's a show that really pushed the limits of the programing block they were on.But hey, you go on ahead and hold on to those dated memories of charcters you obviously know little to nothing about.

This wont be like Next Mutation or Fast Foward, those where the network's ideas. Peter Laird knows what he's doing. Remember, this isn't a Shredder mvoie, this is a TMNT movie.

I agree with lordshredder totally on this. it is not a matter of weather it lives up to the cartoon or not it is a matter of weather Laird makesd the movie that he wanted the original three to be. Laird has already said in interviews that when he made the original movies he did not want to include those bebop and rocksteady guys because he wanted the movies to be more serious like the comics were but because of the contract for the movie he was forced to write them in. TMNT was originally written as a one-shot(one issue) parody of all the comics and cartoons coming out that were simlar to it with animorphic heroes and anime stylings. After its grow in popularity it became a full series and is now on of the greatest comic book legacies ever made. They have said that though the 80s cartoon didnt work towards their view of the turtles they still enjoyed it because it brought the turtles to a broader audience and was really just a different interpretation of the same story. So I ask why can't you say the same thing. The only difference is that you would be saying it about the original ideas where as they were talking abou the remake. TMNT is not a constant joke but like manyn have said it is a series with quality characters, amazing writing, phenomonal art, and a feeeling that even though it us serious you can find laughter in it(like the fact that a group of turtle, on of the slowest animals in the animal kingdom, became ninjas that are incredibly fast and are usually unmatched in their speed). well enjoy the mnovie guys, because I know I will.

Wow, y'all are really a bunch of whining fanboys. It's like all the jokes from shortpacked and somethingpositive come to life. Can't you enjoy something for its merits rather than require it to be an exact replica of something you used to like? I bet all of you who say you hate the new cartoon never watched it, or watched it once or twice entirely predisposed to disliking it. The new cartoon is awesome, I hope this new movie is awesome. I'll give it a chance for sure. There have been movies made of my favorite shows that were disspointing (Reno 911 for a recent example), and that might happen with this movie, but I'm not going to go around saying it sucks before even watching it. Maybe if you go into it not expecting much you will be pleasantly surprised.

I don't think that taking Shredder out of the new TMNT movies was any of your business to do. If you had no dealings with the earlier generations of the TMNT movies, there is no way you had any right to demolish everything that they have accomplished. People have been in love with TMNT for years, and not just the turtles. People love familiar characters and continuings of old stories, not to get rid of everything that they have come up with over the years. I think you have ruined TMNT, and I have no respect for any of the people who took place in this movie. The old movies were cherished for the turtles actually being human, not just computerized like the rest of the world today. I mean, what's next, having the turtle's kids save the world? I don't think so. You All SUCK. This Movie SUCKS. Good job at making people hate TMNT. You have soiled their good name, and made nothing of anything. Congratulations on one of the worst movies I have seen in ages.
