news.spong.com — ?There are only two million units left and no more will be produced,?? continued our source. ?There are 400,000 allocated for the whole of the European territory. After that there will be no more. It was confirmed to me that Microsoft has no plans to manufacture the original Xbox once the new console hits the market.??

"Microsoft has no plans to manufacture the original Xbox once the new console hits the market" means to me that the new xbox is going to have to be backwards compatible, which contradicts much speculation:http://www.google.com/search?q=xbox%20360%20backwards-compatibleI refuse to believe that even Microsoft would abandon people who have already dropped cash on xbox games, so either this story is BS or the new xbox *will* be backwards compatible.

I think what M$ is planning is that the people who buy an Xbox 360, have already owned the original Xbox. I have also heard that M$ has spent many dollars in getting xbox games to emulate on there next gen hardware.
