treehugger.com— Renault-Nissan is planning on building a car for under $3000. The price could be as low as $2500, which is 40% less and that the least expensive sub-compact car available today.

Driving an SUV that gets 15 mpg HELPS? Less fuel burned for miles driven, less wasted money (equals energy), less pollutants, better for the economy, Joe six pack can retire, put bratty kids through college, more engineering graduates, economically stronger America, which now buys more Hummers - its a win-win, do the math!
my clio is awesome and could wipe your jeep in speed, cost, fun and environmentally friendlyness. cept safety and off road. but who cares if you die and since when do most americans use their 4x4s for off road??
@greenamp:I live in Michigan. You can drive a motorcycle 6 months out of the year at best, and even then only when it's not raining. Motorcycles are complete luxury vehicles here.I would love to see a $5000 car with good gas mileage. They'll never bring one to market here, though.
Yeah I did, I sound like Rick James. "Yeah I slapped Charlie Murphy"I was saying you couldn't get a decent one at $3,000, and a P.O.S. for $3,000...so it's a contradiction, but not a big one.
Hitler was responsible for having the beetle built. The guy who designed it was Erwin Komenda, lead porsche designer who penned many timeless car designs. Wikipedia people.
"I have to correct the person who said most Americans don't need SUVs: NO Americans do. They are status symbols and NOTHING MORE."This is blasphemy. Why is it that the world, especially diggers, look down upon items that are not necessary? Maybe I don't need my Mark VIII that gets 13 mpg. Maybe I don't need the leather seats and the walnut steering wheel, I could possibly even do without the air suspension. But that's not the point. The point is I put in my 8-10 hours a day of work not so I can hop in my tin can on wheels as whine about having to buy some gas. I mean if he can't indulge ourselves then whats the point of working anyways? It would be much easier to just go on welfare and drive one of these aluminum foil Nissan's. But I do actually applaud Nissan for the effort. I actually would buy one if it came to the U.S. to help me keep the miles of my baby going to work and school and such.

It's not about _driving_ on a highway, it's about _merging_ onto a highway.
