I think the price is not too band, but was really hoping for the magical uner $200 price point. The controllers are Waaay too expensive IMO; $60 each for a Wii-mote+nunchuk (why are they even sold separate?).
Here's a thought... most of the people that I know (including the non hardcore gamers) are planning to buy a Wii. That means that every one is going to have their own controllers, ones in which they can bring along with them to a party to play whatever is being played on the Wii. Most people that I know do this already with the Xbox and the 360. This is exactly what Nintendo is thinking (remember outside of the box) when they made it possible to bring your own settings for at least one game on the actual controller. How many people have other people's Halo profiles on their xbox from other people coming over and playing. This setting up of profiles usually takes a long time. The Wii is fixing that. Families that will need multiple controllers for their children will appreciate the lower cost that Nintendo is offering. I see this as a win win situation for both the player and families.
Well just so you know. He's calling it an "overclocked gamecube" because they're using the exact same processor as the gamecube, but.... overclocking it (so obviously the exact same architecture). That's why the devs don't need to learn how to program for it, they already know because they were making games for the gamecube. And calling the ps3 an "overclocked ps3" doesn't make any sense (not that calling the Wii an overclocked gamecube does either)PS3:- Crazy Nuts Fast Cell Processor - WAY different architecture than ps2- very modern GPU- new optical disk standard to fit more content in each game- tilt-sensitivity- hard driveWhy can't people just say "ok. both of these systems are probably going to be good. I hope they both do well so that we get the most games (which will lead to the most fun games) possible." You don't have to root against anyone in the console wars, you should root for all 3 companies.

My point is the Nintendo Wii is still relatively a good buy, undercutting the competition by at least 200-400 dollars. The Live fee is a good point although its almost not even fair to add that when the Nintendo Wii has no online games (minus Pokemon) and no one really knows what to expect from Sony's Xfire. Finally, I think its fair to assign a $50 price to Xbox360 games as it has been out for a while and many games have dropped to even $40.
"When connected to a TV, the Wii Channel Menu offers a simple interface, letting users pick games to play, get news or weather, view and send photos or even create playable caricatures of themselves to use in actual games."When connected to a TV...Seems like an odd comment to make about something that shouldn't work at all when not connected to a TV. Is this a hint about Wii's still yet to be announced hidden talents?
Nintendo get a massive thumbs up from me.Nintendo, cleverly haven't focused on graphics as much as Microsoft and Sony, they've gone for something that people actually care about. A family of 5 don't care about how effect-loaded a game is, they care about the game-play, how long it keeps them interested for. Despite the Wii being pretty good for graphics, that isn't it's main feature like it is in the PS3 and XBOX360. Wii have taken the interesting route, like they did in the DS and as we can see, both consoles have been a massive success since their launch dates. The PS3 has been a bit of a disaster as nobody wants to pay that much for a console and it's games, while the XBOX360 is cheaper and therefore more popular.Remember the PS2 with eye toy, and the recent development of Buzz! the game show game. These add-ons were and still are an amazing accomplishment to Sony, and I have fun with both now and then. In these days, many teens and families want multiplayer games with OK/decent graphics rather than single player games. Multiplayer games can't be completed like campaigns, they carry on forever, until somebody gets annoyed from losing that is. lol.I really think that Nintendo have come a long way, and they are always looking for things that will bring gaming systems out of this graphics world, and into a modern, more comfortable style of game-play. Nintendo, whilst doing this are also making partnerships with very important companies such as IBM, which will allow them to create 5-star hardware in the future. The wii-mote function is very extendable, from golf to sword fighting, from fishing to modern battle-scenes. It allows users to feel like they are in the game, not just pressing buttons, and half the time cheating. With other features such as Wii Channels, people can do more than play music, movies and games, but they can edit videos, pictures, personal characters, surf the Internet with the family, order a pizza, watch things on youtube, show each other pictures online, personalize things and best of all, download classics that will never be the same. With all these features intact, a price range from ?175.99 and ?295, it's no wonder why the Wii was out of stock before it was actually released! The various shops were begging Nintendo for more. It's finally cooled down, but eBay will still be up in flames for a while.I have yet to buy one, in which case I will probably write a review which will include photo's.Well thats all for now,Dan

The only gripe I have is that I wish it would have come with a 2nd controller
