seattlepi.nwsource.com— A good Q & A with Nintendo's Satoru Iwata that gives insight into the Nintendo game plan for this generation of consoles. He definitely shoots some of the rumors down.

I also find it refreshing how Iwata says he reads blogs, which makes it sound like he is in touch with gamers and is hearing what they like and what they don't like. I don't know of any Sony presidents who read blogs or consider consumer's opinions...But heck, even Nintendo's former president, Yamauchi, was a bit (read: completely) out of touch with gamers. I'm pretty glad that he's retired now. :)
As soon as you have to start explaining a brand name it's a bad brand name! I don't remember him having to explain why he gave the name revolution. As for abbreiviating how about Wi
cliffosj Personally I would rather have Nintendo explaining the name, then having to explain why you should even buy their gimped hardware like Sony is now doing with there $500 model.
one use i can think for wii's controler is a painting program. anyone remember mario paint ? an app for SNES (IIRC) that came with a mouse and allowed kids to draw with their console ?now, imagine that app with wii's controler ? you'll be able to hold it and use it just like you would a brush, using natural strokes to paint whatever you want.
I just want to say that I have never had a console system. Never had much of an interest. Wii makes me excited, tho. I believe that I may change my tune and actually buy this system when it comes out. I am where they are trying to go; the non-console gamer.Good job, Nintendo.

The name does have lots of marketing potential. I can imagine they can drop in an F and turn Wii into Wifi in the commercial!
