gonintendo.com — Here is a picture of the new and improved thicker strap for the Wii-mote. This should hopefully prevent people from damaging their $5,000 televisions. Its only a matter of time before we find out if this will work or not.

They should also put rubber grips on the side of the wiimote

Spending $5000 and then hooking up a gaming console that doesn't do HD is stupid. The Wii looks like CRAP in SD/ED on a big screen. It is unplayable and unwatchable on anything larger than 32". When is Nintendo going to get with the program?

Thicker strap...good I guess, but remember...When pitching in Wii baseball, and rolling in Wii bowling, you don't have to release the controller as you would a regular ball. Your living room is just that, a living room, and not a sports stadium.

People takes the games way too seriously. Even with the thinner strap, you must be swinging very violently for the wiimote to fly of your hand AND break the strap.

Me too, I have no idea. People must be going seriously berserk when playing for such accident to happen. I guess Nintendo under-estimated the retardiness of some people.

Too bad nobody informed me it was unplayable on my 56" DLP. I've been playing it this whole time in ignorance! Thanks for the heads up on the 32" limit. Any more creative thresholds you'd like to interject?

Well actually, yes! While it certinally doesn;t happen very often, occasionally it does happen. Fortunately though, they have rubber grips on them, so its very rare. Of course, that doesn't do much for the flying balls or taunts.I was quite surprised to learn that the wiimote didn't have rubber straps, the remote itself is quite slippery, and its very eays to get sweaty hands when making a public fool of yourself. Still I hope to get one soon :).
