youtube.com— Fantastic video of Nickelback sucking so bad they get booed off the stage. I love how the crowd just starts to throw things. The people have spoken: Nickelback SUCKS!

Just because a band is making money doesn't mean that they are good at creating music, all it means is that the band was commercialized properly. This band, along with most (not all) bands on the radio do nothing but bang four chords, give or take, over and over again for a period of time usually lasting around 3 minutes, maybe changing to another four chord "combo" for the "good part". Anyone who actually thinks that this is good music is completely ignorant of the true musicians that are out there with little, if any, commercialization.
what the...WHY would anyone think nickelback sucks?? I really like their music, its really cool, so why would they get booed off stage by so many people.
Then once everyone starts listening to the "hard stuff" you'll move onto something else and still be an elitist f**k.I dislike nickleback, but seriously who give a flying f**k if someone else does or doesn't?
I like how, because you provided evidence and spelled everything correctly, your comment gets dugg up. When in reality, as pointed out, a video that is 5 years or indeed anything old will not have been seen be many people. The issue here is that when submitting the digg filters did not realize that this video had been posted before. Even so, the filtering has limitations and really that doesn't matter. Clearly people, including myself, have not seen the video and therefor it is news to us. Saying that something old that is new to us is bad is a completely absurd argument to make. That's equating history as being worthless. The video got a lot of diggs and a lot of comments therefor it has cultural relevance at Digg as decided by it's users. The fact that it is a dup is therefor not significant.
Okay! I LOVE Nickelback!! And to here all ya'll hating on them for like no reason is kinda pissing me off. I will admit a lot of there mainstream music is crap but that's only because that what pop culture will accept yet if you listen to their older stuff and to the songs they don't play on the radio you'll find that there is a lot more to the group. The best mainstream song they play by them is Too Bad and personally to me that is a mild song for Nickelback. The reason they can't play most of Nickelback's true rock songs on the radio is because they are too controversial and deal with subjects that people find too harsh to be public. For example Never Again deals with domestic abuse, Because of You suicide, Side of a Bullet an actual murder. The truth is Nickelback isn't what's wrong with the "music scene" today, its the song that people want to hear by them which show how pathetic we as people are. We just can't deal with things that are too heady. So maybe before you diss Nickelback entirely you should really look into the band. And you know you can hate on me all you want but let me tell you I don't care. I think hating a band on a website just because everyone freakin' else does it is stupid, immature and just being one of a herd of fools (like cattle). So maybe you idiots should go out learn the world and develop some individualism.
Just so you know I agree with you. Nickelback is not bad they do some amazing guitar work that is freakin' complicated. I know b/c I have friends who play guitar and I've tried to get them to play it; they can't. And Nickelback focuses on Chad Kroeger's amazing lyrics which almost always tell a story, reveal some truth, or talk about stuff people would rather not talk about. I'll admit I fell in love with Nickelback the moment I heard If Everyone Cared but now that's my least favorite song by them simply because their hard rock off their albums is a million times better. So I agree with you whole heartedly and I think most of the people on this thread are a bunch of snobby assh**es.
An honest-to-god question: why is Nickelback singled out for sucking? Why do they cause such strong emotions of hatred? Not even Bill Gates can make Apple fans hate as much. There's a load of other wannabe rockers who make similar -or even worse- music; why them?I'm just curious, because I keep seeing the same reaction in online communities such as digg.
Wow, you're resurrecting an old thread. Why on earth would you do that? [just askin']. Yeah yeah, whatever we all love to be hypocrites don't we? [If you said no then you just proved it]. So anyway, tastes are subjective with anything so I'm not saying I'm the de-facto taste benchmark... BUT I will say that there are is a lot of super crappy pop music out there that mostly falls short of my internal benchmarks. Do I have a better ear? You know what... I don't know and I don't really care about all that but I'll play your game I guess. I don't know if this is objective enough for you-1)Many of their songs sound the same.2)The guitar work is too campy but more importantly unoriginal- both in style and tone- in my opinion. It sort of maybe succeeds on the energy side- but from a creative angle it's just bad... too cookie cutter for me... how throwing us for a loop once in a while or how about thrashing a little? It's like trying to say you're badass doing wheelies on your moped... um ok, if you say so... but we are all saying on the inside- get a real f**king bike and do some s**t on that- it would be much cooler. Well maybe I'm degrading into tastes now but you get my point hopefully.3)All songs sound like canned pop music with bad expiration date no less.4)The dude's voice is awful. No soul in it. Best I could relate it/make an analogy to is it sounds like "character acting" to me. It doesn't sound like his heart is coming through in his voice and to me it just sounds like someone trying to be dramatic as possible... Granted, I can dig sort of dramatic/emotional style if sounds natural but I just don't think it works for him. Again, maybe "too campy" again is the right phrase. So yeah, in general- with things like "campyness"- a little campy can be absolutely sometimes turn out the best stuff but like anything else if TOO MUCH campyness is a way way way bad thing... like really bad in my opinion. OK, well I've wasted 10 minutes of my life and personally I don't really care what kind of music people like. You like it then fine. Who cares. I'm still going to tell you it sucks though so deal with it.
Also, maybe you missed the point of my original reply... Yes, it was meant to be a statement- stating that I think they suck- but it was also mean to be humorous... which doesn't work well on the internet... the humor here is that I state that people don't seem to understand taste is a pretty subjective thing but then follow it up with another taste of my own personal brand... that was meant to be humorous in a self deprecating sort of way like- "hey, i've got an opinion... oh and I remember my first beer too..."- it was not meant to be serious... like i said in my previous post, I don't care and don't know why I'm even responding to tell you the truth.

Playing a concert then after 2 songs people are compelled to throw things at you kinda epitomizes sucking.

Didn't you just say it's subjective? So how do they suck on an objective scale? (Just askin')
