jalopnik.com — Chrysler's new owners at Cerberus have killed the next generation Dodge Viper, dooming the high-horsepower beast to an end of run in 2011 and ceding the American automaker supercar war to GM with their new Chevy Corvette ZR1. Jalopnik mourns the 600-HP snake, may it rest in peace.

The viper died when they stopped making the second generation. The GTS is still one of my favorite cars. The SRT-10 never took off and is expensive. Also, the C6 Z06 is superior than the viper performance and price wise. Now, the ZR1 will put the nail in the coffin. I'm a vette guy, own a 02' but it's the truth. Why would you buy a new viper when you can get a faster vette for cheaper? Maybe the end to all high performance cars is coming soon.

That show was the shin! I'll always remember that rocket blastin' the side of it and it HEALED, and transforming like a Go Go Gadget mobile from hard silver to red convertible....mmmph!

Yeah but Ford in their infinite wisdom don't bring any of the European versions of their cars here. Our Focus hasn't really changed since the first generation...

Toyota used to make the supra and many badass trucks that are indestructible. Now they build cars for limp-wristed Wii players who eat tofu and use Linux.

You know that Chrysler after the merger was initially managed by the old Chrysler staff and that Chrysler's Robert Eaton co-managed DaimlerChrysler, right? Then after the old Chrysler guys messed up some Mercedes guys were sent to Chrysler to improve it and AFAIK they did to a certain degree.

I was referring to the de-lamination problem they had. Not a latch problem.

I don't think that anyone who's driven a Caliber or looked at an Avenger for more than 5 minutes would even remotely agree with you.

This article is lame, says the Viper is 'Dead" yet in the article they specifically say they have no information or status of the roadmap after 2011, i.e.: they have no clue it's being discontinued or replaced with an upgrade.
