Look, one of the next big fields is using nanotech to reverse aging (look at www.mprize.org and www.maxlife.org for instance). These programs are here NOW in the USA.....we need to get out of the anti-science mind funk that the bush years represented! One big benefit will be an elimination of like, 80% of the medical costs and problems once we get a handle on the software (DNA) that runs and builds our cells and bodies. Like Kurzweil says, we need to update our DNA software. Remember, the country that develops this tech will be where the next Bill Gate comes from, because, you can do without owning a computer, but you will pay or trade anything for good health. So, all the boomers: if you could get your aging reversed, how much would that be worth?

And the next Karl Marx will come from the United States. Oh, the irony.

I hate to paint with such a broad brush, but the majority of Indians I have worked with lack critical thinking skills and imagination. They were by-the-book automatons.Their education system seems to surround rote memorization (same for China).Sadly, I think the U.S. education system is starting to fall into the rote memorization category as well.

What we need is a gotdamn IT revolution here in the states and oust the decision makers responsible for causing the decline in IT jobs, which is exactly why some of these other countries have even more of a voice in the IT industry. I do not fault these outer countries for their gains, but I do blame the Americans who sided with NAFTA and other retards for weakening our position which could be very prosperous right about now.

You are on point! We also need an IT revolution, but then you will see my statement of that through this board!

Well, in the truth sense, it might be true. A business built on a mistake, random help and then an illegal monopoly? But to give Bill credit, then to give away most of his ill gotten gains (unlike Steve Ballmer).Microsoft invented very little. Bill gates got the rights to sell the IBM OS because the guy who owned CPM refused to sign IBM's NDA and then went on vacation. Bill was happy to meet with them (since he had no OS anyway) - signed a licensing deal and then went out and signed a licensing deal with Pacific data (or something like that). Of course, they made the mistake of granting him a lifetime deal with no renegotiations. Bill then license it to IBM and they sold it as IBM-DOS. And in turn, IBM in their arrogance did not prevent MS from selling a version because they couldn't believe anyone would buy a PC not made by them. And from that cash cow, everything else as funded. That's not to say that Bill G was not an astute business guy but astute business guys are always out there. Bill G was at the right place ad at the right time ... the bigger question is when did they veer off into illegal business practices and leveraged that into the illegal monopoly (as the courts have ruled dozens of times) ... so if that's the Bill G they are asking in the survey, would it surprise anyone if the next illegal monopolist who gets really rich is from another country? Is that the question?

NAFTA has nothing to do with any decline in IT jobs.Neither Mexico nor Canada are stealing any significant number of IT jobs from America. If anything it's done the opposite. (The US now exports far more manufactured goods to Canada than it imports, for example.)

Thank you for the correction, my rant was more intended towards China & India!
