It's true he mentioned Half Life and Steam, which run in Wine. However, there are also lots of native ports of games. In fact, with the exception of EQ2, I play all my games in Linux. UT2004, Neverwinter Nights Diamond, Quake (all of them, including 4), Doom (all of them, including 3 expansion), Uplink, Darwinia, the soon-to-be-released Defcon, Homeworld, Second Life and Serious Sam are all available natively under Linux. Is it is as good as Windows gaming? Of course not. But when you count all those games plus games that almost flawlessly under Wine (WoW, Guild Wars, Starcraft, Diablo, Morrowind) and the games that are remakes (like the TA conversion in the article), it's actually quite nice.I even set up my Nostromo N52 Speedpad under Linux for shooters. Works great, no need for drivers. =)
"Sure there's tux racer and potato guy"Whilst Linux doesn't have the breadth of games available for Windows, it's worth remembering that games like Doom, Quake and NWN run on Linux natively, and games such as WoW, Guildwars and Halflife 2 run flawlessly with WINE.
RIght now the two best things linux has going for them in regards to gaming is Nvidia's support and Transgaming Cedega.. There still needs to be wider adoption of development of mainstream video game titles for the Linux platform. Excuse me if I sound like an assh**e but I refuse to accept these cheap gimpy so-called video games. Just because I run linux doesn't mean I want to trade in all my games that worked for windows to play freaking "Galaxy Mage" the sequel to "Universal s**t stain".. No offense to the developers, i know they're trying. What we really need is to bring more attention to this platform and let the big companies know that they have a substantial userbase willing to purchase their material. I don't want to keep paying $5.50/mo so I can play games i've purchased years ago. Although for the time being I don't mind, I just hope it changes for the better in the future. My 2c.

Maybe without the over excited title the games wouldn't look so cheap.
