blog.newsweek.com — McCain is asking a lot of questions about William Ayers, but that doesn't mean he's actually looking for answers. The point is to create a false air of mystery and encourage voters to fill in the blanks with their own fears. "Does anybody really seriously believe that Barack Obama is a secret left-wing radical?" wrote Bush Speechwriter David Frum.

If you read Obama's books (which he wrote himself), and if you listen to the thousands of speeches he's made over the past decade, and if you consider his actions in the Senate, you can easily conclude the following:(1) Obama is NOT a secret left-wing radical, and he does not condone the radical views or actions of William Ayers or of other radicals or terrorists. Obama is NOT "palling around with terrorists"! (However, consider the Republican support of Saddam Hussein prior to his invasion of Kuwait, and that famous picture of Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam. Consider how Bush senior attended a business meeting with Shafiq bin Laden (who representing the Binladen Group) on September 10, 2001.)(2) Obama is NOT a socialist. However, our country has Medicare and Medicaid, and Obama supports a health care reform plan that would enable all citizens to become insured. (Meanwhile, the Republicans have practiced their own form of "socialism" by giving no-bid contracts to Haliburton, and huge tax breaks to oil companies during the most dramatic rise of oil prices in decades, and free reign to banks during an obvious housing bubble and a later bailout (win-win for some executives), and by a $600 "stimulus check" for millions of people, and tax breaks for the wealthy. THAT's socialism!)(3) Obama is NOT a Muslim. You can't have your cake and eat it too, current McCain-Palin supporters! If you're going to claim that Obama is Rev. Wright's close spiritual disciple because Obama attended that *Christian* church for 20 years, then you can hardly claim the Obama has any involvement in the Muslim faith. Also, I think everyone is aware that the reason some current McCain-Palin supporters continue to promote the myth that Obama has faith in Islam is to take advantage of the prejudiced view that "Muslim == Terrorist or terrorist sympathizer"; and any intelligent person who takes advantage of the stupid prejudices of others is consciously making the choice to be immoral. I accuse McCain and Palin of being immoral because they are knowingly promoting beliefs (e.g., that Obama might be a terrorist, etc) that McCain and Palin know to be incorrect.(4) Obama is NOT Anti-American. The flag lapel pin flap, and the false claim that Obama didn't put his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance in the appropriate contexts, were silly rumors manufactured to imply that Obama doesn't love America. Obama was a professor who taught about Constitutional law! Obama served the impoverished and desperate as a community leader. Obama became a U.S. Senator! Now Obama is running for President, with a platform to put the economy back on track and to restore America's relations with the other countries of the world. For a person alleged to not love America, Obama sure has a funny way of showing it!Many Republican supporters have made many ridiculous accusations at Obama, when it is clear that many of those accusations are hypocritical. The current batch of Republicans are the ones who need a reality check.

nsrvet, I've got to bury you for your final sentence. I also doubt that she took her advice directly from Mein Kampf. Indicating that it bore a resemblance to Mein Kampf and giving the citations would be ok, although I've not seen anyone yet that I'd feel comfortable in comparing to anything from the Third Reich (so I wouldn't have buried you, but wouldn't have dugg you up either). This is kind of like doing connect-the-dots that the McCain/Palin campaign has done from Barack Obama to Osama Bin Laden. I do believe that the McCain/Palin camp has told plenty of lies and followed a familiar propaganda technique of (and I quote your analysis on this): "Mass communication, create anger at any Democrat, keep message simple and tell 'believable frequent lies."
