arstechnica.com — In April, Apple filed an updated 52-page application for a patent on an extensive multi-touch interface for a full Mac OS X-based system. The illustrations that accompany the application look like the long-heralded but non-existent "iTablet."

All he was saying was they should start coming up with something more original. The fact that they started the iCraze doesn't mean it's not getting old.

They may have patented it, but they won't release it. Tablets are a failure in the market. They don't sell AT ALL and they don't offer any benefits--other than eye candy. They do give a lot of drawbacks, though, such as lost productivity time and the fact that your hands will be in horrible pain. Furthermore, it would ramp up the price of the machines significantly. The MacBook Pro would cost between $3,500-$4,000.Multi-touch does not belong in personal computers.Btw, didn't Apple already patent something very similar to this in 2006? If so, it proves my point that it's unlikely that they'll release such thing.

RE : " ... Like it or not blake, but I think you are oversimplifying why Apple's being successful lately. Sure, touchscreen phones were around before the iPhone, but the iPhone didn't simply copy them. They rethought what a phone should be, and why it should be touchscreen. That and the speed of the animations, and the lightness of the UI was totally "new". Well said, but I have to admit to being an Apple basher for many years... I only changed my mind when I bought a MacBook Pro (for the price, the hardware specs were way above any other laptop back in late 2006 ).In a few months time my MacBook will be 2 years old -- and I now do all my development under OS X.I only boot into Windows for games ( TF2 rocks ) -- Like it or not, Windows & DX still owns the gaming industry.

You're absolutely right! A Windows solution is ALWAYS the right answer!!!!!!!!!! ALSO :... A windows phone will do everything an iPhone would do but 3/4 cheaper...oh wait... all the Windows Mobile based smartphones are NOT 3/4 cheaper, and UM, they DON'T do everything an iPhone does...
