I use the D-Link USB adapter that allows me to connect any standard phone and dial using Skype. I place free calls throughout the US all of the time. When my skype contacts call me, it displays their info on the CID screen. Very nice.
What is the best way to dial brazilian numbers from the us. Can I get a skypeout/in number in brazil even though I live in the us? I am pretty sure vonage offers that option, but not sure which way would be cheaper to call and be called from brazil.
ugly looking handset! I got the Ipevo, not going to advertise it here, needless to say it's a much slicker device.Skype works great, the quality is fantastic. Keeping in touch with Mates in Australia from London is great, especially with video - we get to see our kids growing up - all for free. A bit of a no brainer.
I'm looking for a Skype phone that can be connected to a router rather than a PC. The reasons for this are simple:1. The computer isn't always running and it seems dumb to need this when I have a perfectly good network permanently connected to the Internet (assuming Telenet aren't playing silly buggers again...)2. My computers are all Macs and there's almost sod-all hardware support for Skype and Macs for some bizarre reason. If I can get a Skype phone that I can just jack into my router then I'd be happy. One of the WiFi phones would be attractive but the price is a tad on the steep side since all we really need is a phone for the apartment.

I had the D-Link gateway. It died after two weeks. I'm just glad it died w/in the store warranty period and I didn't have to go through an RMA.I'm thinking about trying the US Robotics gateway now. <a class="user" href="http://www.usr.com/products/voip/voip-product.asp?sku=USR9620">http://www.usr.com/products/voip/voip-product.asp?sku=USR9620</a>I have the USR 9601 and it works great with my laptop. <a class="user" href="http://www.usr.com/products/voip/voip-product.asp?sku=USR9601a">http://www.usr.com/products/voip/voip-product.asp?sku=USR9601a</a> Anyway, there are many gateways out there and it's the second best solution next to the expensive Wi-Fi Sans-PC solutions like the one from Netgear that's STILL not out yet.

The USR 9601 is actually a rebranded version of the P8D phone manufactured by Yealink. You can check it out here: <a class="user" href="http://www.idgear.ca/product_info.php?products_id=156.">http://www.idgear.ca/product_info.php?products_id=156.</a> It is the same phone, except its cheaper.
