If you want vivid dream recall try taking a vitamin B complex just before going to bed. It may take a couple of days but it will totally freak you out.
Another vote for melatonin. Cheap, safe, natural, available EVERYWHERE and RIGHT NOW. Plus it has other health-benefits.Just take it when you'd normally go to bed. If you wait until 3am you're sorta screwed. It kicks-in your normal sleep cycle, so you want to allow the full amount of sleep from the time you take it.
Its easier to use ZMA (3 nutrients: zinc, magnesium, and vitamin b-6) which is available pretty much anywhere supplements are sold. Its primarily used to promote hormone production and to improve the quality of sleep (this is where dreaming comes in). I use it to help with my weight training. So yeah ever since I started using it I dream every night now.

Here's something I take that is already on the market, but focused on just dreams, not a sleeping pill.http://www.brilliantdreams.com

I would love for these people to come out with a drug. That will help you stop dreaming.
