For PS1 emulation, you'll need to upgrade to one of Dark Alex's open firmwares. (The earliest version with PS1 support was 3.02-OEB.) The only other decent PS1 emulator was PS1P, but there's been no updates since it was released, which is a shame. It only worked on some games, was slow, and had no audio. Still, you could play a good, albeit slow, game of Metal Slug. One guy was playing the Neverhood Chronicles with it.
