It will be interesting to see if other communities, namely small ones, adopt similar systems to promote growth of local businesses.

Why does this remind me of Disney Dollars -- those fake bills that you can only use at Disney properties? In reality, the creators of the currency make out, because they get the US cash in hand, and the user only gets semi-worthless bills that can only be used in limited locations.

I wonder how they deal with taxes for these. If they were to be honest, I guess the business could just list the prices in dollars with the 10% discount.

any "currency" must by US dollars, else they are coupons according to the ATF, and in fact coupons exchanged as currency is illegal.
