treehugger.com— New bus stops and news stands are popping up all over New York. They are designed by Nicholas Grimshaw Architects and made by 95% recycled material. NICE!

Seriously - You make a good point. What was so wrong with the existing bus-stops that the city felt that it needed to replace them? The toilets I can understand. But the bus-stops? Another question - from the photo on treehugger, and the photo linked to by someone in the comments, there's not much difference between the new and old bus stops, aside from some cosmetic changes (and the bench dividers, i.e. "homeless-people proofers"). Will these new bus stops honestly improve the experience of people waiting for the bus?
New bus stops debuted in Queens, not Manhattan. Just go down Queens Boulevard and you'll spot many of these new bus stops at almost all major stops. Especially in Rego Park.

And does making them out of recycled materials consume less resources than making them out of non-recycled materials. Usually no.

I'm having a laugh at the guy who commented on the article that took a freaking month to lock his bike up...
