gonext.blogspot.com — Here is some of the main news: Sega has moved development staff away from the PS3 to the Wii over the summer. Nintendo is planning to launch a DVD enabled Wii in Japan later next year. Nintendo would have launched the Wii at $200 but they were pressured to raise the price by retailers, (damn those retailers. )CNN will provide news for the Wii.

The blog sources EDGE magazine, although this is not made entirely clear what 'EDGE' is."Here is some of the latest news about the Wii coming out of EDGE:"Their website is at http://www.edge-online.co.uk/ . I've seen the mag in Barnes and Noble, but never paid much attention to it, so I can't comment on how reliable their news is.

Except Nintendo has never played this game, they most always make money on the consoles they sell at the very start or very close to the launch of the console.

Agreed. I work for HP and the huge seller for printers is ink and accessories (bluetooth adapters, double sided paper adapters, etc). Printers are relatively cheap but it the ink that really makes the money. Well, unless you work at Best Buy where the USB cables cost almost as much as all the ink needed (actually, just as much as 02 photo packages).Accessories make the money, the actual product tends to make less of a profit. Even Nintendo may change with the times a little bit.

Then they should just mod the ps2s and save us the effort. :)

Console makers usually sell consoles as a loss leader and recoup on software licenses. Nintendo avoids this and profits off the hardware as well, but it's arguable that it would make even more sense for them to do that than the others: when people buy the Wii, they're going to want to do a lot of different things with it (i.e. lots of games). Systems like the PS3 generally have a small number of killer apps, and then Madden roster updates.
