computerworld.com — Mac users can stop being smug now. The Vista review screenshots show Vista Build 5472 incorporating a lot of OS X-like features. It also ditched various irritating user prompts, and made the whole thing run fast. The one thing Apple does still have dominance in is media -- the article basically says the Vista Media Center is still buggy.

Why do computer users have to act like its a constant competition? I'm a Mac fan, but everyone benefits from a better Windows system (or any OS for that matter) regardless of personal taste. Having more and better options is a good thing, regardless of how happy you are with your current operating system. Does a better Windows OS detract from your Mac? Unless you have a stake in Apple Computer corp. why should you worry if Windows is copying from the Mac?

QUOTEWe Apple users can still be smug because we have something PC owners don't. Loyalty. /QUOTEI'd say the loyalty lies with the numbers, and really now, Mac doesn't have the numbers - far less than 5% world wide marketshare (although according to the recent results, is growing, every so slowly, but still, growing).

The same reason fanboys exist in console gaming and PC processors and videocards.Because Darwain's theory does not work on humans. -_-

I got my Vista Beta disc last month. I gotta say it is only slightly better than XP. I use OSX at home and Winboxes at work and hate the latter. Vista is really only a whored-up XP, which is a whored-up 2000. 2000 is actually just OK (the last good Windows version that is worth using.) I'm actually scared to see how the next Windows Server distro is gonna look. God, I hope my none of my lusers want that weak-ass Luna crap turned on. What a drain! The Office 2007 suite is pretty good though, but still not worth the $$$ when Open Offiice is just so awesome and free.

I've used Macs (we had several labs of macs, ranging from the very old to the very new) and I have to say they are worse than linux. At least there, I can have my choice of how the OS really behaves. And I'm a .NET Dev as well. Windows: OK, Linux: OK. Mac? wouldn't ever bother. As soon as we could, we got those damn machines out of the schools and put stable PCs in their place. I've never experienced a type of machine/OS combination that behaves so erratically than a mac.

@umeshunniSo, I guess that means Internet Explorer isn't behind either?

whats going to happen if Microsoft gets it right? Do you think that the reason why Macs are so well thought of might be that not a whole lot of people have them. If a couple of hundred million people were using macs everyday I am sure that we would start hearing a lot more negative comments about macs. Besides everyone knows that the only thing that really causes problems in an OS is the third party apps, Mac has almost none so no wonder its so stable. You go ahead and install xp on a system and nothing else I bet the up times would be exceptional. Besides if all I wanted to do was email and web stuff I could buy a much cheaper computer.

Yo, what's this story have to do with the Mac? It's about an interim build of Vista. Jeez ...
