blogs.computerworld.com — There is no other way to say it. Holy cow is this thing fast! I am currently testing Webkit build r30090 against standard Leopard Safari 3.04. This unoptimized WebKit build version is running circles around the standard Safari browser. It isn't even close.

I use both now. Webkit positively SMOKES Camino and basically any other Gecko-based browser. I think this new version of Webkit is going to finally get me to switch from Opera - which I'm pretty astounded about.

The fastest browser on a phone has to be opera-mobile (though it's WAP too). I wonder how much memory is being cached in the new safari/webkit? 20MB, 40MB, IE7-like 50MB? I sure wish Firefox would slim down from the bloat.

Can't say i've noticed a huge difference here, running FF/Safari side-by-side through 20mb cable, Safari is only marginally quicker.. which, I guess is impressive considering it's downloading the ads as well. Can you run ABP on Safari?

I've been using Opera on my Powerbook (1.64G4) since I got it. Then I installed Leopard and Opera became SLOW. So I'm going to give Safari/Webkit another shot.

Firefox is open source, supports extensions, and Firefox 3 isn't even out yet. Unless there is a real good reason why I would take a browser with a little speed over a full-featured Firefox, why the f**k would I waste my time? Calling me a sheep for asking something about what I pretty much gather in general is pretty f**king assumptive and idiotic.

I thought that the current version of Safari was fast, this one will be awesome.

From my knowledge webkit is being used by Nokia for their S60, Google's Android, and about 12 browsers on the desktop. The platforms the browsers run on range from OS X, to windows, to Linux, and even BeOS.
