npr.org — The U.S. economic downturn and tighter border security has not deterred migrants from Central America seeking to enter the United States. But they are being abused in new and alarming ways. Tens of thousands of them are robbed, kidnapped and even killed attempting to cross Mexico. That they are willing to risk it speaks volumes.

Banditry is new in Mexico? I don't think the author knows what history is.

Hmmm let me think. if you are coming INTO Mexico from the south, you are killed, robbed, raped, stabbed, shot, kidnapped, etc., etc.But if you are coming INTO the US from Mexico, you are welcome with open arms, open borders, given welfare, schooling, medical etc., etc. FREE (some exaggeration, but not much, girl, you know it's true)And you Mexican Illegals say the US treats you bad? You Mexican Illegals have nothing on your Southern Brothers/Sisters trying to cross the border. For you it's almost a cake-walk, hell some of you Mexican Illegals do things to purposely get your self deported so you can have an expenses paid trip back home because it is fairly easy to come back. These southern Illegals aren't trying to get your jobs, your land, your homes, your women/men, they are only trying to pass thru your country to get to the US. They could care less about your country. But you treat them like dog s**t, even though they are only after the same thing you are. Illegally crossing the US border.

Poor? Yes.Desperate? Yes.Mostly good intentioned? Yes.Generally good and decent people? Yes.Innocent? No. They are knowingly breaking our laws and coming here illegally. If we have 10% unemployment, then they ARE taking our '"jerbs" and should be turned around. If it wasn't for the blackmarket underclass of illegals, companies that employ them would have to raise their wages and hire real American workers. Instead, they ignore the systems we have in place to regulate wages and hire illegal immigrants.

I still can't wrap my head around borders. Especially after reading a story like this where it is clear that people are risking their life to get across them.
