this makes me hate ATI so much.

I'm pretty sure you have to use the legacy drivers for a Geforce 2. Seriously would it kill you to buy a new graphics card? You can get low-end ones for pretty damn cheap these days. A 6200 is like $30 on newegg. If you want Beryl that bad you should just buy a new card.

I have Ubuntu 6.10 and I can't seem to get the GUI working with my 8800GTS upon install. Anyone know how i can install Ubuntu 6.10 with a DVI monitor and a 8800GTS?

"Seems like "coreavc" are shipping to linux.--<a class="user" href="http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=104277&page=130&highlight=coreavc+linux">http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=104277&page=130&highlight=coreavc+linux</a>---Guys PM me and i'll talk to you about the xbmc off line.... also on other platforms...Although I have not really discussed this here.... Next month we will be release 'CoreAVC QT' for OS X and Windows soon afterwards will offer CoreAVC for Linux. I don't want to go into alot of the details or go off topic at this time... but CoreAVC for Linux is a part of our Linux 'suite' of decoders that we will soon be offering. This will eventually include MP3, AAC, AC-3, ASP, AVC, MPEG-2, VC-1, WMA, WMV and more. There are alot of details I am leaving out on purpose as we are also working with Linux Distros on the plugin/purchase process for the suite.__________________Dan "BetaBoy" MarlinDeveloping the Future of Audio and Video Technology, One Project at a time.<a class="user" href="http://corecodec.org">http://corecodec.org</a> --

So, does this update include OS X?
antineoMar 9, 2007
Yeah, seriously. If you want to run Beryl you need a new card, and maybe even a new computer. My parents have this exact same card... it's the very last card supported by the legacy driver. Even if it was supported by the modern driver it wouldn't matter because it already struggles to run xcompmgr.

another good thing is that nvidia updates their 64 bit drivers as soon as the 32 bit ones.

Thanks! Beryl wasn't running after the Xorg update from last night and Xserver was crashing, I just used Envy to update the drivers and I'm back on Ubuntu! :)
