money.cnn.com — NASA's new SGI Altix system is expected to be installed in August at the NASA Advanced Supercomputing facility at the Ames Research Center. The new system will be the first supercomputer to operate 2,048 processor cores and 4TB of memory under a single copy of Linux(R) -- creating the largest Linux single system image (SSI) in the world.

I opened it later in ubuntu yes. But you would not be paranoid if windows tries to open jpegs with rundll32 (afaik, that is not normal behavior)? I do apologize for not correcting my comment sooner, it is not a trap (though I'd like to know how that force you to download something rather than view it, I coulda used that a couple years ago).

Yeah, it doubles every 18 months. so in 18 months 4gb should be std, then 8, then 16, so in 5 years I could feasibly see 32gb in a desktop system, not 4000gb in a laptop.

You are probably joking, but I'd think that a computer with 4TB of RAM wouldn't need a hard-drive... I know I wouldn't!
