Here, here, as the comment above stated, they don't want you as a customer unless you follow their rules. No thanks, I'll stay on my own from now on. I'm waiting for iRiver or Creative to come out with an official Linux client to support one of their players, they could suck away much of the iPod market that way. I hope most are that dumb to just go out and submit to what Apple is dictating.
Well, three reasons.First, Apple makes nice hardware. I mean, the visual appeal is something, and they're pretty damn small. And then don't forget about the fact that I don't think anyone else makes a device at 160 GB at that price point and size.Second, the software's pretty nice too. I mean, the interface is pretty simple, and this new firmware is supposed to be slick too.Third, for the challenge of it all! I mean, where would we be if it weren't for the first guy who took some off-the-shelf component or device and said "you know, I'm not sure I'm totally happy with this thing. And you know what, I'm going to do something about it! I'm going to make smaller paddles!" You could say it's in protest, you could say it's technolust, I don't know, but people are doing it, and there's not a hell of a lot that can be done to stop us. Well, short of remotely bricking our devices, but I sure as hell doubt that'll happen any time soon.

Not a chance buddy, we'll be sending Steve down to personally harangue the developers until the work is done - just like the old days.
