tuaw.com — Apple is airing a new Get a Mac ad today (thanks to everyone who sent this in) all about Time Machine. The ad, as you might be able to guess from the shot above, features a number of Macs who quickly explain what Time Machine is to a slightly confused PC.

Unfortunately there are going to be times when Time Machine isn't going to be suitable. Though if you are running another piece of backup software whilst using FileVault, your backups won't be secure. All FileVault does is encrypt/decrypt your home folder with a random cypher when you login and logout. It literally creates an encrypted disk image. Whilst logged in, any backups you do are not secure. If you forget your password and don't have either the master password to hand or didn't set one, you've just lost all your data. Plus, FileVault almosts doubles the size of your home folder as the .sparseimage disk image is always on the machine.
