I'll have to also agree, bought the DC14 about 2 months ago, i've sucked up more cat hair then the size of the cat 3x over... and thats after i used my old vacuum 3 times over the house.it just doesnt compare.
Plastic may be more expensive by the pound than some metals, but metals are more expensive when you have to shape them a certain way using a ton of techniques. Plastic you can just pour into mold. The Dyson isn't cheaply made for the most part, but mine had the eletrical cord holder (a plastic tab) fall off - that part could have been made better.
@eliHave you ever done a minute of vacuuming in your entire life? Vacuums are a little bit more than just rotating brooms attached to an air circulating motor. If you've ever run over something that got caught inside of the machine or done something other than changing the bag (if it is that type), you'd know better than that. And tires aren't just big wheels of rubber, either. :p
I strongly disagree. I bought the DC07 animal and it is NOT the best vacuum I've ever owned. I've had a $99 Eureka that's better. Here are the problems the Dyson has...- It doesn't edge well.- It doesn't suck any better than the average vacuum. So what if it never gets clogged? Not having to unclog a vacuum isn't a $300-$400 feature, it's a $50 feature.- When you hit the front into something, it makes that terrible grinding noise. And it's not like you have to hit something hard either, you damn near have to be ginger with it when nearing a wall.I'm a carpet Nazi, I'm telling you, the Dyson isn't worth it. It's price and marketing create an illusion of a great product, when it is not.I sold the Dyson and bought a used Kirby. Now THAT's a vacuum.
I like Dyson for their design and suction power. It does clog like any other vacuum, especially with hairs. What I still can't justify is the purchase price. The price of 2 top Dyson models == 1 Macbook. It's like saying 2 Arnolds == 1 extremely hot AND smart chick (sorry, couldn't come up with a name)
