blogcritics.org — The timing would seem to indicate that the announcement was held up until after the November 2006 elections. The religious right wing of the Republican Party is sure to be outraged when they notice that ?In God We Trust,? while still on the coin, is no longer featured prominently.

@antifederalist"f**k Canada, and f**k the communist controled U.N".C'mon I think you could have came up with a better response to AndyManCan's post than this but since you didn't I'll give it a whirl.@AndyManCan"Maybe the only problem with America is the fact that you "Trust God" too much, and you still don't have state run Health Care".I think its amusing that you would take a shot at people who have faith yet you make a statement like this, " Canada is higher up on the UN list of best countries to live in too". What is that but you putting your faith in the U.N. assesment of the best countries to live in, as if that is some absolute. Our politicians here in Canada used to love doing the same thing when Canada was ranked number one, then pat themselves on the back as if it was because of them. The U.N.'s evaluation of the best countries is purely arbitrary, the fact that they say one country is better than another doesn't necessarily make it so. " I have bad allergies, and I get it treated by getting a shot once a week from the doctor. In the United States I would have to pay for this shot. Here is Canada it is covered by OHIP, so since the treatment seems to work, I can keep getting treated by getting the 'Allergy Shot' without worrying about cost".If you were not paying huge taxes to cover the cost of healthcare then you could probably afford to pay for the costs of your allergy shots yourself, directly or by purchasing private insurance. I don't know what your income level is but its your responsibility to pay for the medical expenses associated with your allergies the same way that its your responsibility to pay your rent, mortgage, car payments etc..The way it works in Canada is some people get medical care for free or at a fraction of the price while others have to pay several times the actual costs. Maybe you think this is a great system but I don't. The more government subsidizes goods and services the less incentive for those people who are net tax recipients have to improve their skills. Those who are net taxpayers have less incentive to improve as well because the more they make the the more the government takes yet their services do not improve as the costs go up. Healthcare is not some sacred cow, it's a bad system with huge waiting lines etc. The more programs that a country has like this the less incentive people have to improve themselves. Contrary to what you have stated things will not look up for Americans as a whole if they bring in state run healthcare. While it would be beneficial for low income individuals the rest of the country would see their standards of living drop because their taxes would increase and the quality of healthcare would decrease which is the norm whenever government has a monopoly on a service. A redistribution of wealth only makes some better off while making others worse off and in the long run it makes everyone worse off.

Beerduck, try a merchant (the one who has to accept these albatrosses) who has to go to the bank and buy 2-300 of them daily to make change in his cash registers.Jet

gtapro91, If ignorance were a river in Egypt, you'd have a big enough lawn to host a Creationist tent-revival on the back of a turtle.I'm just trying to speak your nonsensical, "faith-based" language, but it's so hard for those of us "f**king atheists" unfortunate enough to live in the "reality-based community".

@CTRaider:"Because you use the money with "In God we trust" doesn't mean that you have to worship that God......unless you worship money.....do you?"Because you would use money without "In God we trust" doesn't mean that you can't worship that God...unless you worship money.....do you?"If it isn't a big deal, then why not remove it and restore tradition?

For all those idiots who need a hisotory lesson, The U.S. was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics, with "In God we Trust" being one of the bedrocks. It does not denote a specific religion, it only recognizes a higher power which the majority of the Founders believed in and the majority of the country does. So, since this is a democracy why should we change something that the majority sees fit.

In regards to "archiesteel's" comment "Seperation of Church and state" The meaning of this statement is misconscrewed oftain. It does not mean keeping the terms, topics or belieafs of religions away or seperate. (eg God out of schools, government buildings ect...) The meaning of the tearm was to state the freedom of religion in this new country of America. As in back in the day people where more or less bound to worship based on the the conjtry they lived in. Italy Roman catholic, Ierland Podistant, Isreal Judisum, China Budisum England Catholic the list goes on. So when USA was founded the term "Seperation from Church and State" was to define that America people where not bound to serve as Christians because of the countries founded belifs. They are free to beleave how ever they want to...(more or less)
