Apple have a long history of being pretty conservative about how they roll their ideas out. In the end, I think it's a wise policy, ensuring users aren't overwhelmed.That said, there's a good argument for at least making additions features optional for the power users. However, I imagine that has to be tempered by a possible increase in parts costs, too...
