MY iPod headphones started buzzing a week after I got them. Everytime there was barely and bass they would buzz, I would have to take them out and hit them against something to stop the buzzing. The sound quality besides the buzzing was s**t. My pair of 9 dollar sony earpieces sound better, I wouldnt deffinetly by sony earpieces instead of iPod ones anyday. Theyre very good quality for the price you pay by comparison.
If you look at apple.com/ipodshuffle, you'll notice that the new Shuffle comes with the OLD earbuds.... If you listen to Steve Jobs, he mentions the new buds are available with the Nano and the 5th generetion iPod. He doesn't mention ANYTHING about the Shuffle. That's been discussed on macrumors.com
Yes it does. IPods are great. There are other players out there, but there is a reason why Apple's market share is so big. The iPod is a really great player. I held off for a long time, just a month ago got a 5th gen 30 gig, and now I can't imagine how I ever lived without it. Someday I hope they put a mic in it for voice memos; other than that the thing is close to perfect. So, yes, just because it is Apple it is worth the extra money.
I don't give a s**t what any of you people say, The sound quality in the new buds are nothing to write home about. $30 is asking about $25 more than they are really worth. Seriously, they rival the quality of a dollar store set of phones. I'm not even an audiophile, and I can tell night and day between the apple buds and my sennheizers....Don't be fools, put your money to good use on some sennheizer's and you will thank me! I lived with the old stock buds for 2 months, and if I hadn't tried anything else, I might be like a lot of you and defending these pieces of s**t. I don't care what people say the white buds don't evoke, an "oh sweet, he's trendy, nice buds" they evoke; "Oh wow, that poor bastard spent all his money on the iPod, doesn't have anything left to be able to ENJOY his music through quality phones."
I remember what someone said, that maybe 95% of iPod owners don't care about sound quality or have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to it, and this entire digg thread is proof positive!Other than what Ubermorph has written, most of what you guys have wrote is a laughing stock of crap earphones (especially the fellow that recommended the horrible Phillips). The guy who recommended the Bose surely doesn't realize that people at HeadFi and other professional audio forums refer to Bose as "Buy Other Sound Equipment". Sure they're even better than what Apple provides but whats a D- versus an F?For cheap earphones get Etymotic ER6i's, I got mine for $49 but you must have a headphone amp, same goes for the Shure E3c's (I think the E2c's are a joke). I would highly highly highly recommend at least a reputable Chumoy headphone amp to soften it a bit. These are the absolute minimum. For headphones just get a pair of Grado SR-80's or Grado SR-60's, you can buy them online for far cheaper. For $80 you can have a pair of headphones that sound almost as good as any $300+ pair. Again, also recommended with at least a reputable Chumoy headphone amp maker.

I thought the sound quality of the iPod photo's earbuds were kind of superb, but they refined it even more. I'm just going to see if I'll buy them.
