I had a friend buy that Buffalo he had nothing but problems with it. Sure it is cheap but at least with the Apple you know it will work.

i have 2 airport express units. Will the new airport xtreme work in conjunction with them? I have tried streaming ipod quality music videos from my external LAN pleides drive (www.span.com) to my powerbook but the wireless speed is no where near fast enough. it's pathetic that even ipod quality videos can't stream.if the new airport xtreme doesn't have airtunes and doesn't work in an airport xpress network then i guess i can't stream videos to my powerbook? i'm not interested in a mactv because i don't want to stream TO my living room i have digital cable with 150 channels and 15 VOD (video on demand) channels; i don't want to watch my music videos on my tv; i want to watch music videos on 1) my ipod and 2) my powerbook that's it! as for movies, i don't see any compelling reason to download from itunes when i can either buy a VOD movie through my digital cable or i can rent from Amazon or buy second hand copy from Amazon. buying movies from itunes seems less convenient and more complicated than just using my dvd player or buying from my digital cable. if someone can answer any of my questions or make a strong argument from mac(apple?)TV and itunes movie downloads?

I just upgraded to an 802.11.N router and I specifically looked for gigabit across all ports... even the internet port to give me some extra flexibility if I detach it from the cable box. I too think it silly to only have 10/100 on a router these days. I have had no luck with connecting a USB drive to a router (just not fast enough), so I gave up on that idea and decided to build an eSATA raid on my unix box instead.

Why is smcavoy being dugg down ??? He is more right than wrong. While USB2 devices sharing a port won't slow them down by necessity, the max theoretical speed for ALL devices on the bus is 480mbs. So if you have 2 or more high bandwidth devices on the same port, it WILL slow them down. It's a minor point that deserves clarification and not being dugg down.

The new ribbon design is fancy, and I've been looking forward to playing with it for a couple years now. Since my initial fascination, I've purchased a notebook computer and now I'm concerned with vertical space. Does anyone have experience with a notebook and the new ribbon design?

In my case, I have a couple of older devices that I'd consider hooking up to it that have ethernet but not gigabit. On the other hand, with my main wireless setup that Mac doesn't speak 802.11n... so there's not much point in me upgrading my wireless network.I would quite happily pick some more Airport Express units though. Another 2-3 would go quite well. Hope the price drops on them real soon.

I'd really like to see Gigabit Ethernet Switch built in. 100Mbps is good, but with that much wireless bandwidth, I could hook up an old PC and get a nice file server. More bandwidth == happy nerd

NAS is nice, but why no airTunes?<a class="user" href="http://externalharddrivereviews.org/">http://externalharddrivereviews.org/</a>
