Kremvax - ah but lest you forget the Balanced Budget Amendment was passed by the Republican congress when they regained power in the early 90's. It was part of their Contract With America. The fact that Clinton was in office at the time was completely superficial.BTW, I dug you up because I believe your points about the current Republican control are all completely valid.

@ LinuxEvangelist: You must have failed to notice that this was written in 2004, before SBC and AT&T announced publicly that they want to do the sort of thing that the author states showed no signs of happening. VoIP services and other non-first party broadband applications are already being degraded or blocked, so his argument no longer applies. "An analysis of this bill" that was written 2 years before the bill was proposed...right.

@ LinuxEvangelist: I agree that "Government involving itself in regulations regarding the Internet is just a bad idea to me." This is different though. This is not government controlling the internet but government enforcing freedom. ISPs are trying to control what sites you can see or at what quality you see them at. This is opposing them and ensuring internet freedom. I don't want to see the internet censored and sites who don't pay off ISPs become handicapped.
