readwriteweb.com— Despite the Digg-ish features, the new Netscape portal is still trying to keep users onsite and also gives them less control over what content ranks highly.

Ugh, I read this article, I see the picture, and I laugh. I mean I drive in a car that resembles another manufacturer, I wear clothes that mimic other designers, and I buy electronics that have that familiar jelly bean feel. I think what tops off this kicker, is how a company such as Netscape, who can wipe out dig with a single swoop decides to ask one of their web designers; ?Hey bob, what is today?s trend?? Bob sits down, without a clue and decides to hop on digg.com to see if he can figure something out. He gets an idea, Why not Digg.com! We can argue all day and night about; ?well their doing it differently then digg is?. Yea that?s the point. They say to be a great artist you have to steal from the best make it your own, I see it everyday in business, I wonder when someone is just going to have some balls and admit to it.
We had a front page article about this, just last night (US-eastern time).I thought we concluded that AOL SUCKS, and it is no substitute for digg. And hrere it is again on the front page.Digg is STILL number ONE!

Just to clear that up, I'm the designer at Digg. I had no involvement whatsoever in developing Netscape's new site.
