calacanis.com — This is a pretty cool feature I hope Digg implements something like this. "If you go to a story page (permalink page) you will see "Send Message" next to people's names now (see images below). We have this for both the person who submitted the story and for the people who are commenting."

It's something that sounds cool but is really not that useful... I mean seriously how often are you going to be sending messages to other people on a news site? That's right, never. :P

The system also pings you on the top level when you have a message... i just blogged about it: http://www.calacanis.com/2006/08/31/netscape-site-mail-really-taking-off/

I like the idea and have really been wanting for Digg to add this. Right now there is really no way for people on digg to communicate outside of comments on stories which really makes it difficult to actually network and build strong relationships. Obviously this wouldn't be for everyone so an opt-out option would be really nice to avoid unwanted messages.

I'm sure digg will add it at some point.... it's an obvious feature. And when they do, we will not acuse them of stealing it from us. :-)

umm, I wonder if this is what Microsoft said when they stole from Apple... or when Apple stole from Xerox.
