Okay, there have to have been more than 19 people who dug this. Is it being buried that much?! This is one of the most important issues in our country. We need to tell EVERYBODY, whether or not the think they want to hear it!
I believe most Americans think that it's "not their job" to concern oneself with these kinds of things. Their job is to just do what your "boss" tells you to do...Which is to just "GO SHOPPING!" And these kinds of things are "none of our bussiness". Sad isn't it?
people are living hand to mouth these days as planned by our gov. so overwhelmed with the thought of loosing their job or home it takes it's tole on people. it is a real fight to do what we are doing. the gov. knows this as there are equations for everything, our thoughts movement even in a given situation. we are living in quite the fish bowl. this makes it all the more important that those who can stand do so.
Most people are simply willfully badly informed.Actually, it is a burning social issue, and can becomeTHE SUBJECT OF DEBATE over night. We need a media break-through, and then confront every politician over the issue. This is a formidable learning opportunity about how governments and media functions!
I agree that this needs a media blowup. But I fear it would do no good because there are too many brainwashed people in this country that just want the government to "keep us safe", whatever the cost. So the media blowup should be about the "whys and wherefores", so people can maybe begin to use their stagnant brains again.
I am waiting for Bush to issue the executive order changing the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner" which refer to "the land of the free, and the home of the brave." Brave? Could have fooled me. The national character right now seems to be more one of safety-obsessed cowardice. It would clearly be more in keeping with the spirit of the times for the national anthem to refer to "The land of the fee, and the home of the slave."
