@brentinkc: Well at least he isn't as bad as McCain. During the beginning of the debates Barack goes "McCain is going to say I increase spending when in fact I'm cutting more spending" So what is the first thing to come out of McCain's mouth after that? "Obama wants to increase spending."
The sad truth is people don't care yet. I'll use a car analogy as they seem most popular.Regardless of the warning lights on the instruments panel, as long as the car still goes people don't care (at least those that don't know about or care to know about cars) As the car begins to run a little rough, but still gets from point A to B people still don't care. It is only when the engine seizes up on the expressway belching smoke do they care and perhaps learn a lesson and take better care of their car after a massive repair bill. The same can be said about our economy and freedom. There are still cheap things for sale at the store. Shelves are plentifully stocked and prices are still reasonable. People for the most part still feel free even though it is an illusion of freedom. Even though the indicators are there that all hell is very close to breaking loose, people still don't care. Only when they find that due to hyperinflation gas prices begin to double every week, food prices double as well, and panic sets in and empties the shelves will they take notice. When the curfews are put in place and guys with big guns patrol the streets will they notice. Only this time, it won't be as easy as getting the car fixed to fix this.
Alaska is asking Russia for help to build an oil pipeline.. It's that pipeline Palin was talking proudly about working on. Only Russia seems willing to loan the money.hmm Russia just bailed out the entire country of Iceland.. I wonder if we will have to sell Alaska?"Gazprom's entire senior management goes into Sarah Palin's backyard during a contentious election. There's a message there."The Gazprom chief executive, Aleksei Miller, was accompanied by his deputies Valery Golubev, who served alongside Putin in the KGB, and Alexander Medvedev, who oversees Russian exports of natural gas. Gazprom said its executives had held a working breakfast with Walter Hickel, a former governor of Alaska and a supporter of Palin.

Yes I know, I'm just over-simplifying the relationship between the fed and gov't.
