arstechnica.com — Thanks to more sophisticated and affordable technology, you can defend yourself against accusations of speeding. GPS data was able to get a California teen off the hook for allegedly going 17 miles per hour over the speed limit, simultaneously casting doubt on the accuracy of police radars and giving hope to tech-savvy drivers.

The unit also records your top speed. Unless he knew when the cop was going to hit his car with the radar, sped up to 62 during that time but not during the twice a minute update, slowed back down and then ... well, you get the picture. The cop lied. Period. That is why the parents were so supportive and fought with their son. They had evidence that the cop lied. I like the police, hell I LOVE the police., but even the honest ones tend to want to stick it to snotty brats every once in a while.

Yeah, did you even read the article? The kid didn't do anything wrong. Would you make your kid pay $190 for something that he didn't even do? You lose.

the gps tracking device that i had installed was made by a company called microtrakgps (microtrakgps.com) and they are out of texas. so far, i've been let off on 2 separate "speeding" tickets simply b/c i had information that in court raised REASONABLE doubt!
