news.yahoo.com — The farmers must get approval from the Drug Enforcement Administration, which treats hemp much the way it does marijuana and has not allowed commercial hemp production but has said it would consider applications to grow it.

When I lived in North Dakota you could find hemp growing wild along the roads. I was told that the farmers raised hemp during WWII for making rope. I don't think this is the same quality of hemp that the dope smokers are seeking.

Salad dressing (hemp seed) come to mind. Hemp, good ol harmless hemp, was collateral damage in the war against marijuana.

@coldstatueI agree, I should have introduced such combinations but was afraid to offend war mongers who aren't Christians or enrage people who are mindless, but yet not republican (read independents)

I submitted a story because this is not correct. This is not the first time a hemp growing license has been issued. In 1619 the first hemp laws were put into effect and were in fact "grow laws." If a farmer did not grow hemp in America they could be jailed for being a non-patriot. Hemp was considered legal tender money from 1631 into the early 1800's. So someone please tell me again how N. D. is the first state to issue a hemp growing permit.

Looks like the DuPont lobby isn't as powerful as it use to be. Or maybe they are just satisfied with the enormous amount of money that they stole from farmers all in the name of nylon. Thanks DuPont for letting us have our industrial hemp back. You're the best.

Good point steve.... that information was in the book "Reefer Madness".. written by the same guy who wrote "Fast Food Nation" (or something like that)........I lived in North Dakota a long time ago and can still remember a police officer knocking on the door and explaining to me that there was a marijuana plant growing by the garage... I went out and looked at it and it was about 7 feet tall....... I told him I didn't have the faintest idea what the heck a marijuana plant looks like so I would have to take his word for it... but gave him permission to have someone swing by and remove it....if the officer was correct in his identification then it would be my opinion that marijuana is easy to grow in North Dakota... It's California's number one cash crop maybe it's time for North Dakota to give them a run for their money...

In a more rational dimension this discussion would not be necessary...Like Bill Hicks said: "Doesn't the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit... unnatural?Know about http://www.hempr.com
