nytimes.com — In fact, if you are anything other than a complete Sony fanboy (that’s Internet lingo for an obsessed, myopic groupie) go ahead and forget about the PlayStation 3 this year. Even if you find one, the overhyped PS3 does not deliver an entertainment experience commensurate with its cost ....

Penguin is right in that the PS3 has a better value. The HD feature of the PS3 does work (seen it in BB. BTW, 1080p is based on a game developer's decision. The PS3 has the hardware, the developer just has to code it into the game.) Having a Blu-Ray drive that can play games and movies is good in terms of content on the games and movies. As developers begin to code games better, we may never see an end to games such as Final Fantasy. The issue I have with XBox's HD add-on is:1) Why is it connected via USB? If movie studios decide to encode the discs to show High-Def via HDMI or nothing, then the add-on is useless because...2) Why it cannot play games? If you are going to "equal" the PS3 and buy the Premium 360 console and the HD-DVD add on, in a year or so, you will have to buy another add on to get a high-def, HD-DVD gaming experience? If you test drive a luxury car and you decide to "pimp" your entry level hooptie, you will have to spend more money to get the features on the hooptie than if you were to by the luxury car. When Amazon was "selling" XBox cores for $100, I broke out in the middle of prepping for guests for Thanksgiving to try to snag one. Now that they are $300 again, I'll wait. For me it's about making my dollars work. Both systems are great for playing games. One has alot of high-def games, one doesn't. One supposedly can deliver the games better, but just hasn't gotten around to it. Both play high-def movies, but one seems to have future durability issues, while the other is a "bargain" for what it will be in the future. Once PS3's online offering rivals 360's, then you can factor in the cost to go online. Once you look at all of this, future durability, add-ons, recurring online costs, the PS3 isn't as expensive as you'd expect. the 20GB on is the real value. The lack of wi-fi and extra memory slots aren't really a $40 issue. SATA notebook drives are less than $60 on Newegg.com. Take a PS3, connect it to an A/V receiver or directly to a HDTV via HDMI, connect it to your 802.11n router, and now you have a system that will sit in you cabinet for another 3-5 years. All you have to do is buy games, a DVD remote, and maybe a memory card reader for your PS2 games.

You want to know why you're a troll?"All you little haters keep hating because you can't get or afford one.Go play with your Wii. Pay $250 to wave your hands around like a dumbass and play kid games."That would be why.

You got a blu-ray player AND an HD-DVD player? What a waste. Are you going to buy every movie in both formats too? Hey, look at me, I'm the biggest consumer whore in town. Why not wipe your arse with dollar bills while you're at it?Try to use the comments for comments plzthx, not bragging sessions about your whoop-de-do entertainment center.

The cell has some fundamental design concept flaws that will make it perpetually buggy and difficult to write content for. It's going to be the stone around Sony's neck that may for a time make their efforts in the gaming industry irrelevant.Everyone assumes they will work the bugs out, but what if working the bugs out results in such significant changes to the design that it’s not the one they are selling today. The issues with the Bluetooth controllers warrants a recall all by it’s self.Sony was paying far too much attention to how many bullet points it could stack up against the competition and not enough to building their own concept.

bla bla bla..... I guess having a kid has made me understand childish behavior a little better. Look just because you like something you have better than something someone else has does not make that persons belonging any less important, interesting, or fun than your stuff. It’s funny to listen to fanboys (be it Nintendo, MS, or Sony) rattle off about their unpleasant experience with their mortal enemy, the console they could not afford. Me? In the Nintendo vs. Sega days I was a rabid Nintendo fan, and now, well now I can buy whichever consoles I like. This gives me the freedom to enjoy the aspects of all the new systems. If I don’t like a system for some reason, I just return or trade it.Had a PSP, didn’t like it, so I sold it. That doesn’t mean I have to go s**t all over it on some message board. So many people refuse to acknowledge that something other than their favorite console would be fun to play. Like we teach children, don’t discredit something because you don’t like it.Just try saying “Its not for me”, and when you are finished sit back and bask in what it feels like to be an adult.

Okay, i'll tell you guys and gals a story. Over christmas 2006, I won, hear that? WON an Xbox360. A free next gen console, awesome right?Understand that I keep very good care of my systems, I have a very open, very ventilated entertainment stand.I put nothing beside, on top, or near my consoles except the controllers(when the system is off).I've had the system for 2 months, (they shipped it to me in february) And my 360 crapped out.I got the red lights of death, after 2 months of use. I don't misuse my systems, I don't play for extended periods, and I had my system laying FLAT, not standing. It never fell, it was never shaken or manhandled by me. When i went to a website to find out how to cure the red lights of death, I went through an extensive checklist to find out what was wrong with the system, in the end, the problem was UNKNOWN. When i contacted Microsoft, they basically copy and pasted the help page on their website, and emailed it to me.So, in summary, A well taken care of Xbox 360, died in two months. That's good enough reason for me to buy a PS3, I bet it doesn't die in two months. :P
