nytimes.com — Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship. But to his advisers, even the appearance of a close bond with a lobbyist whose clients often had business before the Senate committee Mr. McCain led threatened the story of

Who gives a s**t what John Stewart says? Outside of being a comedian, what are his qualifications to comment on anything? The fact that a lot of younger people get their political news from Colbert and The Daily Show is really saddening.

I'm an Obama guy but I'm going to defend McCain AND the NYT on this one. I thought it was pretty clear that this was about McCain allowing his belief in himself as a man of principle to sometimes cloud his judgment when it comes to appearances. It's more analysis of a campaign goof than an attempt to paint him as cheating on his wife. That said, it still says critical things about him but I think they're reasonable and fit with his proven character. There's plenty of critical things to say about Obama's overconfidence too, but Hillary's the most arrogant of the lot.

I'd say the two have some common ground since the Bush campaign smeared BOTH of their military records. Amazing, isn't it? An honest to God surviving POW and a guy with three purple hearts, two bronze stars and a silver star (these are NOT handed out cracker jack boxes like Bush's credentials) all smeared by an administration lead by an jackass who would have been put up on charges for being AWOL if not for his daddy's political ties.Swiftboating: It's entered the national vocabulary as a filthy, disgusting tactic to discredit someone's service when your own candidate's doesn't speak for itself and the GOP got so !@#$ed up it used this tactic one of its own most distinguished vets.

I hope you're wrong. If McCain wins, I will leave the US. This story has no effect on my opinion of McCain because I have always hated him.
