I bought a Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player last month and love it. I'm gonna buy a PS3 the instant the price drops bit more and park it right next to my XBox 360. Format neutral. Not the most elegant solution but once I saw just how beautiful HD-DVD (Planet Earth, Departed) can be on my 92" projector there is no going back.Let the big boys fight it out in the background, I'm watching movies.
just to chime in on a point several other people have made. This is nothing new studios have been picking sides for a while now.I think i'm going to pick the side that evil companies like Disney and Apple. Let me explain Jobs is a monopolistic scumbag and Disney well just look at they manipulate kids it's downright disgusting.Besides I like Star Trek, KIing Kong, and Back to the Future 2. But it would be nice if they would all just agree to build compatible players.
Whoever is behind this (I smell Microsoft) have acted AGAINST CONSUMER INTERESTS. Think about this: People have already voted for blu-ray by virtue of 66% : 33% sales. By bribing companies away from the format which *consumers* voted for they are acting against your interests. This is BAD. For the blind idiots who just hate Sony have a long hard think about this one. If you are cheerleading this move you are a f**king moron lemming. The forces that acted on this would never two damn damns about you in any of their future decision making. Remember, consumers had already voted prior to this action.
2 points:1. Download them. AVI, MP4, whatever. Not only do you get them as soon as they are released, they are free (apart from Broadband fee)2. checks? whats the f**k is a $150m check? I think NYTimes you will find its spelt "Cheque" F*ckin dopes!Rant over!Go Blu-Ray!
Yup, likewise. I just rebuilt my home theatre with a full 1080p 46" display and more, but I'm not going to pay a cent towards either format until:-One format is discontinuedor-A fully-compatible dual-format player is available for under $400.

Sony should have paid the HD DVD support to come to Blue Ray, that would be better IMOThen atleast the war would be over

I'm so tired of this stupid soap opera. I mean, come on you don't really think that Sony hasn't paid anyone.

150 million is probably a lot less than what the HD-DVD camp invested in their technology, so the "bribe" ;) is probably worth it. We'll see...

I think ratm22 was refering to BitTorrent HD downloads. The quality is impeccable, it's hard to consider anything else.
