greenpeace.org — More than 60 activists took to the streets of New York to shine green lights on Apple's iconic 5th Avenue store, to protest the company's use of toxic chemicals in its hardware products. Greenpeace elves danced around the store and worked their magic to turn Apple's store green.

I can get behind wanting to lessen the human impact on the environment, but this just seems like a silly publicity stunt. Also, this bit doesn't make sense to me:"As last year's gifts get tossed to make way for shiny new Apples, they will likely find their way to developing countries, where children of all ages will unwrap and unleash the toxic chemicals within."I was always under the impression that most of the polluting done by computers was due to byproducts of the production phase. If the computer's already built, it's not going to continue polluting, right?Anyway, just a piss-poor article and "protest" all around. They didn't do a very good job of selling their cause, so I'm not buying.

Um...every electronic device ever was made using toxic chemicals. Ever try making plastic or PCBs or solder? Yeah, if they give off some toxin when they are salvaged, that's bad... How about doing what the oil companies and pharmaceutical companies are doing so well...lobby congress to get the process outlawed. Greenpeace and Peta are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas these days. All the while congress is killing environmental laws like you'd kill roaches. How about this...Get on daytime TV and news stations showing industrial alternatives to petroleum, coal and dioxins. And showing what our government is not doing to reform environmental issues. The Bush administration is doing enough this term to keep Greenpeace busy for the next 50 years.

You need more than unbacked claims and buzzwords to form an argument. Otherwise, you're just as guilty of trying to brainwash people. And FWIW, I'm not a fan of Apple. I'm just less of a fan of people like you.
