bit-tech.net — The dual GPU cards should be available to buy off the shelves with an SRP somewhere close to the $799 mark, meaning that you'll need to spend $1600 to get the fastest graphics platform on the planet. Insanity! Anyone thinking of spending that much on just graphics cards?

Is it just me or doesn't anyone remember building a SLI Voodoo 2 rig? You were the king of the hill playing Quake 2 with this setup at the LAN parties. What ever happen? (hint, hint)History will repeat itself with this new rendition of SLI. Too expensive and the whole idea will soon be outdated technology when they build more multi GPU cards.SLI history 101... thanks to Beyond3D.com.http://www.beyond3d.com/reviews/nvidia/sli/

And I thought Dual-SLI was more than enough, now they're pushing out the Quad-SLI. I cant even imagine how many graphics cards they plan on having in a PC in 6 years.

Good post about this being a corvette kind of purchase. I mean people who spend that much on fringe items like this aren't going to alternatively put that money into something worthwhile or valuable. Same group that actually buys that s**t in the airplane catalog....Money that is going down the pooper regardless.

"Dell also has a super duper desktop that comes with quad sli. It is pretty much a collector's edition since there are going to be made only 600 of them and they are all hand painted and stuff. Oh yeah and the sales from them are expected to amount to 10% of Dell's 2006 revenues ;)"Somehow I doubt that....dells 2005 revenue was somwhere in the neghiborhood of 13-15 billion dollars. That said, 10% of that revenue is on the low end 1.3 Billion dollars. Spread out over 600 hand painted systems is 2.16 million dollars each. Somehow I doubut they are going to charge that much for a system quad sli or not, and that those 600 will amount to even .05% of dells 2006 revenue. ;)

Hmm...I think I'm gonna start robbing banks. I can't get Quad SLI AND two FX-60's along with various other components.

Nah, not impressed until I can have 8 SLI cards in one box

I am not impressed until I have a six foot, 300 hundred pound, biomech video card installed on my back along my cortex.I won't have to work out again because I will be in the eternal fire of hell 24/7.Now NVIDIA OR ATI?
