articles.sun-sentinel.com — Human trafficking, which has been around for centuries, rakes in billons of dollars for criminal enterprises each year. The victims, some as young as 12, are kidnapped, beaten, raped, and forced to have sex with up to dozens of men each day. Their pimps brainwash them into emotional dependence.

Legalizing prostitution would probably improve the situation, but I doubt the results would be so drastic. Sex trafficking is only one aspect of this problem, and legalizing prostitution doesn't necessarily mean that sex trafficking will stop - especially when it involves children and minors. Even if it were legal, I'm sure a large number of women would be still be forced, coerced, or deceived into prostitution.

No, they will do one of the following:a) Become legitimate businessmen in the same area of business.b) Stay in the same area of business but still act like criminals, adding rat poison to their drugs or controlling prostitutes through violence or killing competitors. In which case the victims will be free to go to the police without fear of prosecution, and violence will disappear over time just as it did in the liquor business, casinos, and so forth.c) Focus on other criminal enterprises. These enterprises will be less lucrative on the whole, due to supply and demand. If there was so much profit in organized burglary or dogfighting rings or protection rackets, why didn't they drop the prostitution/drug business long before? If child sex slaves (the only type that would still be legal) are enough income to maintain their organization at its current strength, why do they bother with any other kind? So they can't hire as many goons, can't buy as many guns, can't convince kids that gang membership is the way to get rich and powerful. Eventually little Jimmy can't get a job with the gang and so, yeah, he DOES give up and start working at Wal-Mart.The gangs will still exist: there'll always be a demand for something or other that only they can provide. But they'll shrink in proportion to their financial troubles, and that's good for everybody.

No the only way to win isn't to remove the desire to do drugs or slaves. The solution is to make them free (drugs that is). In fact if you eliminated money then drug lords have no incentive to try and sell you weed from across the border because you could get it for free in your backyard. Now eliminating money isn't going to happen any time soon but I'm fairly positive our government will destroy it for us.
