fiercegamebiz.com — National Institute for Media and the Family (NIMF) are saying that video games have "devastating effects" on children and youth and plan to release a 10-year plan to address how to prevent children from accessing explicitly violent or sexual games. However, the majority of medical studies find no correlation between games and behavior.

If you do a search on google for 'video games effects on kids', you will find a lot of research that does find correlations between video games and behaviors. And plenty more if you search for TV's effects on kids and I wouldn't doubt that Video games can have more influence than TV.Check this out. Video games may slow kids brain development.http://mentalhealth.about.com/cs/familyresources/a/videojap.htmIt comes down to moderation and parents actually helping their kids be good people and balance good activity with game time.

What about choose-your-fate books? They can be just as bad, and sometimes worse.Anyway, it's up to parents what their kids play, not the government.

Hmmm...I don't remember being able to repeatedly be able to watch bodies explode in gory violent realistic manners in choose your fate books. Their may have been death and injury but not a visual representation of death, dismemberment and worse.

Depends on what game with what person. They CAN be good for you and they can be bad. Just like TV can be harmless, and it can be bad. Wine CAN be good for you and it can be bad. It's all about balance and other aspects of parenting. If a parent thinks, oh a shooter will help my kids visual skills and then has them play shooters for 6 hours a day...that won't help them much in life.
