huffingtonpost.com— Police officer tells John McCain: "We should help people who are addicted to drugs, not spend $69 billion a year to put people in jail."

The problem being that the FDA won't be "pushed" in the right direction. It's much easier to kick them all out and start over. You can't tell a bunch of people (FDA) who have been fighting for a cause (war on drugs, prohibition) that all of a sudden their cause must do a 180 and expect them to follow along.
Here in Arizona you get a felony for a 5 dollar bag of weed and you cannot even get a job a Mcdonalds because every job backround checks because of the illegal aliens... wtf
Do you have any knowledge of human nature? People who peddle drugs are very likely to continue to do so, no matter the specifics of which drugs are legal and which ones are not. The addicts should be given greater options than they currently are, but legalizing life-damaging products to free up prison space is not a solution. Keep yourselves in denial that there are no short or long-term effects of drug use, it's an all too familiar pattern.
Another uninformed douchbag who wants to criminalize everyone who doesnt see it the way he does. Cigarettes: 485,000Heroin: 25,000Cocaine: 25,000Marijuana: 0""but legalizing life-damaging products to free up prison space is not a solution.""Simply put, you are lying."There is no conclusive evidence that short-term marihuana use alone directly results in any physical damage to man. [...] Brill et al. (1970) and Smith (1968) have noted that there have not been any reliable reports of human fatalities attributable purely to marihuana, although very high doses have been administered by users."- The Report of the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse, "Acute Effects of Marihuana"; http://www.druglibrary.org/Schaffer/LIBRARY/studie ...

I had no idea there was a group of law enforcement officers with such beliefs. They're getting my next charitable donation!

McCain knows the truth about the "war on drugs" but he just doesn't care.
