nfl.com— NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Sunday that the competition committee will review league policy regarding late-season games in which teams might be tempted to rest their starters for the playoffs.

This is exactly why I don't watch pro football anymore. Despite all the faults of the BCS, at least you know every game still matters at the college level.
One year for the championship game I dropped almost all of my players and picked up all backups (we had no limit on the number of moves). I DESTROYED the other guy in the finals because he did not do the same and, like you, got "screwed" (despite the fact that we were both subject to the same rules. . . not sure how he got screwed, exactly).Don't play the game the way you *think* it should be played, play the game the way it should actually be played.
Exactly; they earned this luxury by playing well all season. A coach's job is to do whats best for his team- if you have nothing left to play for, the best thing for your team is resting your starters.
Why penalize the fans who bought tickets? I think the Colts should refund the ticket price for the games they didn't play to the best of the teams ability. It's fraud and a form of cowardice. Their management is too scared to try and win because of what might happen. The players were pissed off about it too. I'll tell you what has happened every year they've done this is that they looked like chumps in the playoffs. The only year the Colts won a superbowl is the one they had to compete in every game. Rusting your starters is not good for anyone but a coach, owner, or general manager who is too craven to play to win.
this is stupid. there are injured players who come in for the first play of a game then sit out so they can keep their "started in x number of games" streak going. "starting" means nothing. the colts decided to rest manning, and they paid the price. they could've brought him back in had they wanted to. they didn't, they lost. oh well. If they sat him out the entire game for the playoffs.... well there's dozens of other players out there. what? you're gonna stay home because there was a press release that the colts were going to sit peyton manning? um. no. you're not. you're a s**tty fan if you do. (i could maybe see this in basketball. maybe, if it's MJ or something. nah, you're still a s**tty fan...) and if you do sit home and then they get their asses kicked in the first half and then theyb ring him int he second half, you'd be screaming foul!no. just no.
yeah but if they said in advance peyton was sitting out against the jets, you're telling me there's nobody else on that team worth watching? a 13-0 team? and if we're talking some s**tty team like the lions, well you probably weren't going to go anyway.

Why penalize a team that won enough games to be in the position to sit players?

I seem to remember Oklahoma losing to Kansas State and still walking into the national championship, so what was that you were saying?
