This is a brilliant move for two reasons:1. This cash flow will allow the campaign to reach and pursuade voters who are somehow able to avoid us "Paulites". :-)2. Donating to the campaign gives you a visceral stake in the outcome. People will always work harder to bring something about that they have a financial interest in. Now think about how many folks will have to donate over the next three months in order to reach this goal. The "official frontrunners" are now officially on notice and you better believe they are worried!
If 1,000,000 of us contribute $12.00, it will happen. If 100,000 of us contribute $120.00, it will happen. I'm sending $100.00 tonight to make it happen! I'm looking forward to living the rest of my life in a free country!
I'm not sure how many supporters we have at this time, but I am sure that our numbers are growing. I have contributed $900.000 so far, and am pretty sure I will hit the $2,300.00 allowable max before too long. If 5,220 freedom lovers made a $2,300.00 contribution, we would have $12,006,000.00! Every little bit helps. Let your conscience guide you.
I am actually surprised by the relatively low fundraising totals. There are now over 50,000 meetup group members - that is people who want Paul to win enough to meet up to get the word out about him. Surely nearly every single one of these people can and wants to donate $100 to the campaign (they either have the cash, can borrow it or put it on their credit cards and pay it off over time)? That is $5 million right there. But that is the low end: if you add in enough larger/maxed out contributors, is an average donation of $500 unreasonable? That is $25 million. There are obviously many more supporters who aren't in meetup groups, so, again, even $25 million should be a low figure. And yet we are ecstatic to raise 1 mill in a week? Come on people, it is time for supporters to put their money where their mouths are: I am budgeted to be maxed out by the end of this quarter - can you set aside cash, go see one movie less, or have one latte/beer less to make sure you can give the campaign as much as possible this quarter? Let's start by meeting the October goal in 2 weeks!!
